Brown Soul Shoes has been lucky to receive the support of many great fans, not only in Little Rock, but all over the South. Over the years, we’ve been asked to support several organizations and we love to take part when we can. Recently we heard our friend Kelli Marks mention a one year birthday party for her bakery, Sweet Love Bakes. This isn’t your normal birthday party, by the way. This thing is a black tie affair!

Kelli inspired us when we read about the cover charge for her party. See, Kelli has asked that each guest of the party bring an item that will provide warmth to our neighbors in need. If you live in Little Rock, then you’ve certainly heard about an organization called The One Inc, better known as The Van. Pioneered by Aaron Reddin, The Van spends time on our streets providing essentials for our homeless neighbors. I talked to Aaron a few days ago and he told me that his friends are really in need of items to keep them warm. Here’s the deal. If you’re coming to our show at W.T. Bubba’s Saturday night, we ask that you bring one of the following items for The Van:

Blankets
Coats
Socks
Boots
Sleeping Bags
Other items for warmth

Of course, if you attended the party at Sweet Love, you don’t need to double down and bring more goods to our show. We’re just trying to add to the fun. If you’ll bring the stuff, we’ll get it to The Van! We know that we can always count on our fans to support anything we do and this party will be no different. We’ll see you guys tomorrow night at Bubba’s!

We have agreed to take part in the annual “Joe Pitts Band Christmas Jam” this year. We’re honored to be invited to take part in this event with so many talented artists. This year’s show will benefit the Arkansas Food Bank Network and is sponsored by Nightflying. We’re asking all of our fans to come out on December 10th to show your support for Brown Soul Shoes and the Arkansas Food Bank Network. Northwest Arkansas, Here We Come!

We’re so proud to announce the addition of two shows in Fayetteville, AR. We have always had a good following up there and now we’ll have the chance to perform right in the middle of Dickson Street! Thanks to the good folks at Legacy Blues Lounge for inviting us to town on a Razorback football game weekend. We’ll be tearing up the blues on Dickson for two nights in a row and we hope to see you all there.

If you live in that area, you should check out the Legacy Blues Lounge website. The club will open on Labor Day Weekend and will cater to blues fans, which is something new for Dickson Street. If you don’t believe that the Leflers are serious about the blues, stop in and check out the house Hammond B3 or the Whurlitzer Suitcase electric piano. These guys are the real deal. We hope to see each and every one of you there. Go ahead and RSVP for Friday and Saturday on Facebook.

We’re playing Riverfest

As many of you know by now, we’ll be playing this year’s Riverfest. We’ll be playing at the Stickyz Tent with lots of great regional artists. You can see us perform at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday May, 28. We hope to see lots of you there and we would greatly appreciate you spreading the word. We have created an event on Facebook for everyone to keep updated and join in the conversation. We are pleased to announce the upcoming arrival of our Brown Soul Shoes t shirts. The shirts will be here next Tuesday and we think they will go fast. We have a limited supply, so be sure and order yours soon. We do not have access to an online vendor, so we’re asking everyone to place their order under the discussions tab of our Facebook page. After you’ve made the order, we will contact you to set up arrangements for payment and pickup. The shirts will cost $15 and a proof is pictured below.

Brown Soul Shoes Announced as Semi-Finalists

Brown Soul Shoes is proud to announce that the band has been chosen as a semi-finalist in the 2011 Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase. We will be competing against 19 very talented musicians/groups from Arkansas. ~~We will have more details as we get them~~ We will be performing on Feb. 17 at Sticky Fingerz in Little Rock. The bands will begin at 7:00 p.m. that night. Please RSVP to the event on our Facebook page. Mike, Josh, Blake and J. Brown will be calling on all of you to help support the band at the competition. They are very excited and looking forward to the competition.
